Open House

Someday soon I will have time to post pictures from the move and us starting to get settled into the new house, but that can wait.

Our old home is officially on the market!  The relator open house is tomorrow (6.19.12) and Wednesday (6.20.12).  Then, the first official open house will be Sunday (6.24.12).  Hopefully we can get that house sold soon.  It really is absolutely amazing.  It's just down the street from an elementary school.  Plus, it's in Kirkwood.  You would be hard pressed to find a better place to raise a family.

Here is the link to the house on the relator's site.  It looks pretty great now that it is all staged.  If you live in St. Louis and have friends looking for a house, tell them to look here!!

Okay, this really is the last post before we move

Happy moving-day eve! Okay, well really that would have been a while ago.  We've slowly been moving stuff in the last week or so, but tomorrow is the official moving day.

It seriously still boggles my mind that exactly a year ago we were just beginning to think about maybe doing a little renovation on the house.  Oh what a difference a year makes.

Hopefully there will be some more pictures of the move tomorrow, and obviously there will be more pictures posted as we actually get moved in.  It's kind of crazy that this blog will be winding down in about a month.

Today was pretty crazy at the house.  We had the normal work crew, the painter, the electrician, the plumber, people cleaning up, and us.  Clearly it was a packed house!

Here are a few new pictures of the lights, moving, etc.

We tried to pack up some of the dog toys, Raina was not a fan of this plan.  She got all these out on her own.

Moving van!

This will officially go in the yard Sunday.  Meaning if you know anyone who is looking for a house in Kirkwood, you should tell them!!

Mom overseeing the packing.

Raina was sure to oversee the move as well.

It's starting to look so empty!  I feel like I should mention that about 2 seconds after this picture was taken, Brian spun Olive around on the wood floor like a top. Half hilarious, half rude.

The light going into the basement.  There are actually two of them.

The dining room light.  It's kind of hard to see here.  I'll take another picture soon.

The light outside the patio doors.

The powder room.

Toilets are really exciting.

The light from the garage entrance to the kitchen.  You can't tell in the picture, but the light bulb in here is called an Edison bulb.  You can see all the filaments glow.

The master shower.  It's pretty awesome.

The master bath. It needs a little work still.  They were getting ready to install the toilet today, but there was a big crack in it.  No pun intended.

The floor of the shower.

The built-in shelves in the master bath.

Oh, and they have heated floors. Jealous.

Our bathroom is pretty neat-o too.  We have towel racks, and shower curtains.

The vanity with lights and mirrors.  I know it's kind of confusing that you can't see me in the mirrors.  No, I'm not a vampire.  I was sitting on the edge of the shower.  I also sat on the toilet fully clothed today in order to determine where the toilet paper roll should go.  Apparently I need to visualize.

We also have a shower head and stuff.

I actually have 90% of my furniture at the house already and my room is starting to come together.  And yes, those are mannequin legs in the corner.

My little dormer transformed into a reading nook.  Or, since this is hidden by my door when it's open, it's a good hiding spot to keep from working too hard moving...not that I would do that.

This dresser is a new addition.  It used to be at the farm and was stained a red-ish brown color.  Memorial Day weekend I stripped the stain and repainted it.

The new shades for our room.  They're really cool.  Yes, the shades are cool.  When they're closed, they can be either sheer or like normal shades so that you cannot see anything.

Sheer.

Normal.

The only one in the family more stressed than Raina about the move is Olive. Clearly.

That's all the pictures from now.  Which is a good thing, because I'm somewhere between sleep deprivation and physically exhausted from today.  I'm sure tomorrow will be even crazier!

The Final Countdown

Man oh man! I seriously cannot believe that this is moving week.  I am currently sitting in my bedroom that is missing two bookshelves, a chair, a table, and 90% of my closet.  It is beyond crazy that we are leaving this house so soon.

As you can imagine, we are in crunch time at both houses.  Our AMAZING workers have been putting in some insane hours in order to get the house ready.  Technically to get a living/residency permit (I used to know what it's called), you just need to have ONE functioning bathroom and a functioning kitchen.  As of now, we don't really have that, but by Friday when we get the occupancy permit (YES! Remembered it!) that will be done.  The workers will probably be at the house around two weeks after we move in finishing up some final things.  The basement is definitely not done, but it's a non-essential of us to move in.

Here are a bunch of random pictures from this past weekend and today.  Lots of little things are being finished, as well as a few big things.

The kitchen faucet.

This is the little landing coming in from the garage.  It has tile and grout now.

This was from last week I guess. This is the start of the patio.  There is another picture of it later on that I took today (6/5).

The powder room floor. There is another updated picture from 6/5 later on.

The "stage" where the new fire place will be. Again, there is another picture from 6/5 later on.

The front room got painted! Tucker was really excited.

The master bedroom got painted too. It's a really pretty shade of blue.

The floor in the master bath.  The floors are heated...just in time for those nice, cold St. Louis summers.

The awesome master bath shower. It's much further along now and looks AMAZING!  I forgot to take another picture of this, but there will be one up shortly.

It's really hard to see in this picture, but this is the vanity for the upstairs bathroom.  Black wood bottom and a white marble top.

The floors in the upstairs bathroom. I think they're slate? I could be making that up.

The upstairs shower turned out so cool. I LOVE the black grout!

The upstairs used to be lined with closets, this is what remains.

I may have posted this photo or a similar one already, but this is the garden bed underneath the dining room window.

The view of the patio from the yard. The patio will actually have two levels when it is completed.

My new rug! I like it a lot. Surprisingly we got it at Home Goods.  That place is going to be dangerous when I move out.

The electrician came on Monday, so now we have really exciting things like outlet covers.

And light switches! No more sticking two wires together for lighting. It's the little things.

The fireplace in the front room. It's actually a gas fireplace, we just had new "logs" and a new door put in.

Evidently I should have taken a close up of this. This is the new wood stove. It's pretty awesome.  Grandpa always had a wood stove in his back room, and we really wanted to use his, but because of new fire codes/restrictions, it would have needed to be ridiculously far from the wall.  So we got a new one instead.

The powder room.  That's beadboard on the bottom.

The back room got painted today. It's a neat shade of yellow. I think it's called White Raisin. How do you get to be the person who comes up with the names of paint colors? I want that to be my next job.

The sink and cabinet.

Remember that patio wall I showed you earlier in this post? Yeah, this is it now.  They filled it in with gravel and eventually concrete will be poured on top of this.

In order to get started on the next layer of the patio (which has to be done before the concrete can be poured), all the dirt has to go away.  The backyard is going to look so weird when that's gone!

That's all the pictures for now.  I'm sure there will be lots more in the next few days.  Hopefully I can get another post up before the move, but I make no guarantees.  Our house is quickly becoming more and more empty.  It's kind of strange. The front room echoes right now.  My room is mostly packed or at the new house.  I'm house sitting for my boss starting Thursday, so I'm trying to get all my stuff moved over there before then so that there is less to do Friday and Saturday.  We'll see how that actually goes!
