I'm Running Out of Semi-Catchy Titles

We are officially at less than TWO WEEKS people! How crazy is that?

I was thinking about how far we have come in the past year.  About a year ago, Mom and I went around to open houses to see if #9 was priced right.  Somewhere in the middle of that day, we realized that it wasn't about whether the house was priced right or not.  It was about the house itself.  We even went through the open house that was held at #9.  There were other families there.  All they saw was the updating that was needed and everything the house didn't have.  Obviously this blog is proof that we even saw things in the house that could be changed, the difference is that to those families, it was just a house. Four brick walls, three bedrooms, a kitchen, and all the other things that make a house.  The real difference between us and them at that open house was that, to us it was already home.

Memorial Day weekend is usually spent enjoying a peaceful weekend at the farm.  This year, we got a little bit of that relaxation, but Monday was all about getting our house ready to go on the market.  So here is the timeline right now: moving day is Saturday, June 9.  The people who are staging the house come Monday/Tuesday.  The pictures of the house are being taken Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.  And the first open house will be June 17!  Talk about whirlwind.

Okay, so here are a few more pictures just to keep everything up to date.  I can already tell you that these are NOT the most updated. In no particular order:

The door to the basement.  It's glass panes, there is just protective plastic over it right now.

Our beautiful kitchen

I may be slightly biased, but I think the island has the coolest piece of granite ever!

We started on the patio a little.  This is where the hot tub will go.

The new fridge

The dishwasher is on the island

It's not painted yet, but this is the door to the upstairs bathroom.

This little garden is outside the dining room windows

A better view of the garden outside the dining room

The upstairs bathroom

The upstairs bathroom again. I decided on black grout against the suggestions of the contractor.  I think it'll look cool. It will have a similar look to how it looks in the pictures.
The stove top and hood

Yay! All the siding is finished!
This little "stage" is where the wood fireplace will sit

Someday this will be a patio

The oven and a blank space where the microwave will go

Needless to say, the next week and a half are going to be such a blur, it'll be really hard to keep up.  I'm going to do my best though.

Floors and Doors and Paint, Oh My!

I know I said these pictures would be up a few days ago, but better late than never!  Just a heads up, this is kind of a long post. There are something like 40 pictures.

My closet doors.  Yes, not only do we have closets, we also have doors!

My beautiful closet, thanks to St. Louis Closet Co!

As you could see in the other pictures, my room has its first coat of paint.  It's a really cool gray color that kind of looks blue sometimes.  You can also see that the floors are in! In case you don't remember, these wood floors are the original wood floors from the first floor, we just had them put upstairs and in the master bedroom and had them refinished.

The upstairs bathroom.  Hopefully they will start working on this by the end of the week.

The alcove.  The wall facing the back of the house, the shared wall with the bathroom, and the half wall next to the stairs are all this terra cotta color.

The shared wall with Brian's room and the hallway leading to my room are a very pale peach color.  The terra cotta bounces off the walls a lot to make it look more peach than it really is.

Mom showing off Brian's closet.  His room is also gray, but he did two different shades of gray. It looks really good!
Brian's closet

The hallway again.  When I was growing up, these were closets with doors.  The space on the left will stay open like that, but I think the one on the right will be a closet again.

I'm not sure if I ever showed this off, but this is the furnace.  It's sitting on a platform above the staircase.
Mom headed down the stairs.  You can see the two colors of the upstairs again.

How great does the floor look?!

The floors in the master are all done too!

Someday this will be the master bath.

The AMAZING closet in the master.

Again.

Last one of the master.  St. Louis Closet Co. did an awesome job!

The floors again.  I think there is one final row they have to put in and then the floors will be finished.

We have a real front door now too!

Here's the glass in the front door.

There will eventually be new tile in front of the fireplace.

The dining room got painted too.  It's kind of a mossy green-gray color.

Hello installed kitchen cabinets! The countertop comes TOMORROW!!

It's kind of hard to see in this picture, but some of the air vents have been put in too.  They are wood stained to match the wood floors.

A closer view of the kitchen.  They hung the hood for the stove top too.  When the counter tops are put in, the outside will be one type of granite and the island will be another.

That empty space is where the fridge will go.  The two wood pieces are where another cabinet is going to be hung.

Now that the rest of the house is progressing so quickly, we started focusing a little bit more on the basement.  There used to be a wall here that blocked my Grandpa's office from the furnace.  We took out the wall.

This is the side of the basement that will have the washer/dryer.

This is the new basement. As you can see, we've started to slowly move some stuff over here so that actual moving day is less crazy.

The new side of the basement again. It's amazing how much stuff is in there, and yet our house is still full...

I don't know that I ever showed a the walkout from the basement.  Here it is.

They have also started mapping out the patio in the backyard.  It's kind of hard to see, but there are strings all over the place.  It looks sort of like a maze.

The basement door and the side of the house.

The soon to be patio again. It's a little easier to see in this picture.

Grandpa's garden.

This door used to lead into the furnace room.

They also put the crown molding up.

And the trim around the doors.

This is some of the tile that will be in the upstairs bathroom.  The shower will have white subway tiles with a strip of this about 3/4 of the way to the ceiling.

These are the white subway tiles.

There used to be an entrance into the house where the ladder is.  Now there is a door on the side of the garage.

The door is so dark it's kind of hard to see.

It's really all starting to come together.

The old door.

That's all the pictures I have for now.  Hopefully later this week there will be some more updates and pictures of the counters!
